Hawai'i has been selected as an official host for the SCA US Coffee Champs Prelim Competition! The event will be hosted by the Hawai'i Coffee Association at this year's annual HCA Conference and will include the Barista and Brewers Cup Competitions to kick off the 2019-2020 Coffee Champs season. The competition will be held at Ala Moana Hotel in Honolulu, O'ahu on July 26 & 27, with a pre-competition coffee cupping selection on July 25.
If you, or anyone you know, are interested in competing, please review and complete the registration here. All are welcome to participate - new baristas, at-home coffee brewers, seasoned coffee professionals and everyone in between! Rules and regulations can be found on the registration page linked above and online at USCC's website.
As a result of last year's USCC preliminary competition in Hawai'i, we saw two coffee professionals from our community advance to the Brewers Cup Qualifiers and one who made it to the national stage - let's keep it up and continue to represent the talents of our local coffee industry in these national competitions!
Secondly, as these events require a lot of time to organize and resources to facilitate, we are currently seeking event sponsors in our local community. Please see the various sponsorship levels listed below and let us know if you would like to contribute.

Your coffee will be available for competitors to use in their routines - according to USCC rules, the Prelim host will provide a selection of compulsory coffees for competitors to cup before the competition begins; from these coffees, competitors will choose one coffee or a blend of two or more coffees to compete with! We will need basic information on the coffee: origin, farm, process, variety, etc.
Because we are hosting the prelims at coffee growing origin, while it is not required, we would like to request Hawai'i-grown coffees.
Please email madeleine.alg@gmail.com if you would like to become a Roaster Coffee Sponsor. Thank you!
Thank you to our sponsors!
