MEMBERSHIP CLASSES

FULL MEMBERSHIP - $250
Shall be open to all Hawaiian business firms, sole proprietorships or corporations who are engaged in any or all of the following activities including but not limited to growing, exporting, importing, brokering, warehousing, roasting, processing, packaging, wholesaling, jobbing, distributing, and retailing of Hawaiian coffee, and/or products relating to Hawaiian coffee. Members in this classification shall be divided into five broad CATEGORIES: Growers; Processors; Roasters; Wholesalers; and Retailers. It is expected that members will register within the category of their primary involvement in the specialty coffee industry, for purposes of providing a representative selection on the Board.

CERTIFIED MEMBERSHIP - $125
Shall be open to individuals, sole proprietorships, partnerships, corporations, trade organizations, universities, research establishments engaged in the import or manufacture or distribution of products or services closely allied with the Hawaii coffee industry.

Does your coffee business have to be physically located in Hawaii for you to be an HCA voting member?
Yes, for Full Memberships under HCA Bylaws Article IV (1)(a), which is limited to "Hawaii business firm(s)." Full Members can vote on any issue before the membership, including selection of Directors and can also serve on the Board of Directors. This is intended to include an active business presence in Hawaii involved in any of the five general coffee categories.
No, for Certified Memberships under HCA Bylaws Article IV(1)(b). Certified Membership is open to "all" businesses, no matter where located, who engage in an allied or support activity to the state wide coffee industry. These members can also vote on any issue coming before the general membership, including voting for Directors. However, Certified Members cannot serve on the Board of Directors.
ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP - $50
Shall be open to writers, editors, publishers of media allied or associated with the specialty coffee industry; other non-Hawaii coffee trade Associations; and all other individuals not directly involved in Hawaii coffee commerce, and non-Hawaii growers and businesses. There are no voting rights associated with this level of membership.
